Project Summary and Purpose: Kickedup Highway is a project designed to further document the experiences of the same participants who were originally interviewed, photographed, and/or videotaped during the mid-1990s as a part of Kicked-up: documenting the reality of homeless youth. The interviews, photography, and videotaping were conducted in various locations including Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, and Mexico. The resulting photos, videos, and story excerpts helped to inform and educate many, including advocates for homeless youth, mental health and healthcare professionals, and the general public. The new project has the same overall purpose, which is to inform and educate professionals and the general public on the reality of homelessness from the perspective of the participants. The original co-producers on Kicked-up, Aly Downs, Amy Romanin, and June Covington, PhD, lead the Project Team for Kickedup Highway.
